Blake Selig founded Dakota in 1998. A native of Atlanta, Blake graduated from The Lovett School before earning a BBA in Business with a concentration in real estate from the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia. His entrepreneurial spirit runs deep, with his family being in business in Atlanta since 1918. In addition to Dakota, Blake has launched other successful ventures, including Global Sports Services and Simon Industries.
Blake is particularly proud of his ability to identify and nurture great talent, creating an environment that fosters professional, economic, and social growth. Dakota is known for its commitment to its employees, having never fired anyone due to economic downturns and never hiring as a “band-aid” solution. Under Blake’s leadership, Dakota has completed several landmark projects, including two parking decks, the 1100 Spring Street building renovations, Haverty’s, and served as the backbone of The Works development.
Blake lives in Atlanta and is married to his high school sweetheart, Stephanie. They have three children—McKenzie, Ansley, and Parker. Outside of work, he enjoys exercising, supporting UGA Athletics, and is actively involved in local charities. Blake takes pride in building a company that not only succeeds in business but also contributes positively to the community.
