Steve Selig, Co-Founder of Dakota Contractors, Inc., has been a prominent figure in the commercial real estate industry since 1968. With a deep understanding of economic development, he served as Deputy Assistant to President Carter from 1976 to 1979, acting as the Chief Liaison with the business community. He later became President Carter’s National Finance Chairman for his 1980 re-election campaign. In recognition of his family’s dedication to economic growth, the Selig Center for Economic Development was established at the University of Georgia. Steve has also contributed to his community by serving on the Board of Commissioners for the Atlanta Housing Authority and as a Board Member for the Atlanta Council for International Visitors.

A true leader in the industry, Steve has received numerous accolades throughout his career. In 1995, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, followed by the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Most Admired CEO Award. His 12th & Midtown project earned multiple Best in Atlanta Real Estate Awards from 2007 to 2011. In 2014, he was honored with the Council for Quality Growth’s Four Pillar Award. More recently, in 2021 and 2022, NAIOP recognized Selig with the Best Mixed-Use Development Award, while CoStar awarded him the Best New Commercial Development Award in 2022. Additionally, the Atlanta Business Chronicle honored Selig’s projects with Best in Real Estate Awards for Mixed-Use in 2022 and for Adaptive-Reuse in 2023

Steve received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
