Mark Madlem

Mark Madlem has been a key figure at Dakota since August 2015, where he serves as Senior Project Manager and Vice President of Operations and Business Development. A graduate of Walton High School and Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mark brings a wealth of experience and technical knowledge to his role.

Before joining Dakota, Mark spent years working as a consulting engineer, overseeing critical aspects of construction projects, including site grading, foundations, structural footings, and steel inspections. He later transitioned into real estate development, where he managed land development for subdivisions and office parks, as well as the construction of office shells and interior buildouts. His experience in commercial construction includes managing out-of-the-ground projects and interior tenant improvements in industries such as office, retail, institutional, entertainment, and restaurant sectors. Among his proudest accomplishments are the Terminal West concert venue and the renovation of the Ashford and Decatur YMCAs.

At Dakota, Mark is particularly proud of his work on The Works at Chattahoochee, an 80-acre adaptive reuse project. Notable projects within this development include the food hall, Third Spot, and two parking structures, all of which demonstrate his expertise and commitment to excellence.

Mark’s connection to Dakota came through a mutual friend of Blake Selig, which led to his significant role within the company. He lives in Midtown with his wife Corrie, where they raised their four daughters. In his free time, Mark enjoys reading and the occasional exercise.

Mark appreciates working with Blake Selig, who equips his team to succeed by putting them in positions that align with their strengths. Throughout his career, Mark has faced and overcome numerous challenges, always with determination and a focus on delivering exceptional results in every project he undertakes.
